My love affair with Yoga started in 2005 with Bikram yoga which eventually led me down the path to complete BY Teacher Training in Fall of 2006. Since then I have taught and continue to teach at various studios in Western Canada and the US and owned & operated studio. I have had the honor of being on Staff & Faculty at the Teacher Trainings Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 sessions and served on the First Aid / CPR certification team from 2008-2010; this was an invaluable experience that deepened my knowledge and appreciation for the practice and the art of teaching yoga. My love of yoga has expanded into practicing & teaching a mosaic of various different styles of yoga including yin & Tony Sanchez's Master Core 40 sequences.
I hold a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work & in my "former life" I had the privilege of counselling children, youth, adults & family systems in the addictions and mental health care sector. It never ceases to amaze me how the two paths of healing parallel and compliment each other. I am a qualified trauma informed yoga instructor and endeavour to deepen my knowledge in this area.
Either as a clinician or as a yoga instructor, I believe in practice over preaching; building capacity & removing obstacles to self empowerment. I practice everyday; it’s physical and mental hygiene – it’s that simple and that powerful.
I thank you for the honour of teaching you and thank you for being my teachers in my journey.
