Yin/Deep Stretch Yoga

This class is taught by:

Elaine Wang

"With dedicated practice, sincere and humble exploration of the self, the true purpose of Yoga--enlightenment--can be right here, right now!”
Elaine started Bikram yoga practice in 2006. At the time she was suffering from severe seasonal allergy, and quickly discovered the benefit of practising hot yoga. Yoga helped ease the allergy symptoms, and healed her back problem as well. She was delighted with the benefits and continued practice for a year before she went for teacher training. She is happy to learn more and be able to share Yoga with people.

In 2011, after practicing yin yoga a few times, she loved the balance that this practice gives in relation to other styles of yoga that she went to Yin Yoga Teacher Training with Bernie Clarks at Semperviva yoga school in Vancouver.

In 2015, she decided to continue her yoga journey in Goa, India, to complete her 500 hour yoga teacher training. There’s so much to learn and to grow. She’s always a student of yoga, enjoying practising variety style of yoga and honoured to share with others. She believes that Yoga practice is to learn to listen to the body. The focused stillness of yoga opens a space for us to appreciate the true nature of our mind. When our capacity to listen is at its greatest and most refined, we can listen directly to our soul and seek it’s constant guidance.

Kim Greefhorst

Yoga has been a part of Kim’s life for over 17 years - the practice has helped her grow stronger and more grounded, both on and off the mat. Kim teaches Vinyasa Flow, Yin, and PyroPilates. She completed her 200 hour Foundation training with Semperviva Yoga in 2009, as well as trainings in hot yoga, yin, and most recently, PyroPilates. Kim continues to be a student of the practice and will be completing her 300 hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training in 2019. Kim’s classes include playful and challenging sequences, suitable for all levels of practitioners. She intends for all students to leave her classes feeling balanced and refreshed, ready to carry a sense of well-being off the mat.

Candice Lim Hing

Candice discovered yoga while traveling in India, where she practiced daily on the beach. Upon returning to Canada, she wanted to keep practicing yoga and a friend introduced her to Bikram Yoga. She fell in love at first practice with Bikram Yoga! Candice is always expanding her knowledge and finding ways to share all the benefits of yoga with others. She attended Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in Los Angeles in 2004 and since then has continued to expand her training while running three yoga studios. She has completed other teacher training courses such as Bikram Advanced Workshop in Hawaii in 2006, Kids Yoga Training in Vancouver in 2012, Synergy Yoga Teacher Training with Francisco Morales in Peru in 2012, Ghosh Lineage Master Core Advanced Teacher Training with Tony Sanchez in Mexico in 2013, Yin Yoga Teacher Training with Bernie Clark in Vancouver in 2014, Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training with Seane Corn in Vancouver in 2015, and Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training with Eddie Modestini and Nicki Doane. She has also taken various other workshops with renowned teachers like Mary Jarvis, Esak Garcia, Kino Macgregor and Ray Long.

After teaching in different studios in the Lower Mainland, Candice opened the Langley studio in 2007 to bring this therapeutic yoga to a new community. She opened the Maple Ridge studio in 2012 and the Surrey studio in 2013 with her mom, Mary.

Candice loves interacting with all students and is very grateful for the opportunity to share yoga in all communities.  She enjoys getting to know everyone so make sure to say hi and introduce yourself!

Candice’s classes are all about balance. She has a strong focus on alignment and discipline. She pushes her students to do their best but is also very encouraging. Her discipline will keep you working hard in class and seeing the benefits afterwards. Candice’s yoga tips are: breathe and have fun everything else is optional, everyday is different so let go of your expectations and judgements, experiment and get to know yourself physically, mentally and spiritually.

This Yin/Deep Stretch yoga is a slower paced class  with poses or asanas held for longer periods of time—3 minutes to 10 minutes per pose is typical.  This class is a complement for your regular practice. Yin yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues—the tendons, fascia, and ligaments—with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility.  There is little "dialogue" in this class, there may be music.  Please bring blocks and/or bolsters if you have them.
All levels.  Temperature: Room.
