Juliette took her first class a few years ago when she was looking for something that would allow her to both strengthen her body and find self control. Since starting she has lost 15 pounds and has improved her practice beyond anything that she could have hoped for. With Bikram yoga she was defiantly feeling that strength and control that she was looking for. From her practice she has found a completely different lifestyle where she leads a happy, clean, and stable life. After feeling her life change, Juliette decided to attend the Spring 2010 Teacher Training that was held in Las Vegas. She felt that she was at that point in life where she needed to make a positive move and yoga was where she was going to find it. It has changed her inside and out to the point where she wouldn’t know where she would be without it. Now she is able to give back to the yoga community that helped her grow and to share her love of yoga with others.
Her favourite posture is locust and bow. They make her heart rate jump from normal to extreme in an exhilarating way. She loves being able to go over and beyond her normal boundaries. With every posture in the sequence being beneficial, it is hard to pick a least favorite. When you feel the discomfort of a posture it is just something to work through.
In class, Juliette likes to deliver a class full of energy and a bit of punch! When she is teaching and she sees her practitioners working hard she always wants to leap right of the podium and join them. When her students struggle she gives them everything she’s got to lift them that one more inch off of the ground. Her biggest yoga tip is to go beyond what you think. You can always surpass your limits and get a little deeper.
Outside of yoga Juliette is a full time server and manager of a Mexican restaurant – she likes her yoga and her food hot! When she isn’t working or teaching she spends time doing acrobatic dance and running outside around her neighboring farms.
Born in Africa, raised in England, Canada is now my home!
I took my first class in 2009 at BY Langley and it was a love-hate relationship. The heat was so overwhelming and even though Hatha yoga was not new to me I couldn’t hold any of the postures. Strangely enough I came out feeling so invigorated & alive that I knew I had found something really special. I came across such inspiring teachers and yogis that I thought to myself, one day I too, would like to teach this amazing yoga. Unfortunately due to family & work commitments my practice was really sporadic over the next couple of years until Candice opened a studio in Maple Ridge. With a regular practice, my body & mind began to heal dramatically in so many ways. Most importantly helping me to be so much more calm, focused and at peace.
With the support of my loving family that “one day” came and I was able to go to TT in fall 2012 and graduate.
I love the whole sequence together and the unique combination of strength, balance, endurance and focus that it gives me. My favorite part is the meditation where you’re able to enjoy 90 minutes just for yourself, something that’s so difficult to do in our ever increasingly busy lives.
I feel truly blessed and grateful to be able to share the magic of this yoga with you. Just see each day as a new journey, come with an open mind & heart, it’s never too late, you have nothing to lose but so much to gain.
